Barbara Mathes Gallery is pleased to present Americans in Paris for the Frieze Masters Viewing Room 2020. This Viewing Room will present a series of paintings, sculptures and works on paper by American artists whose practice is united by the time they spent living and working in the French capital. Americans in Paris includes works by Alexander Calder, John Chamberlain, Ed Clark, Joan Mitchell, Ad Reinhardt, Edda Renouf, and Richard Serra. Influenced by the Parisian avant-garde as well as French Impressionism, these artists have each established their own unique approach to medium, composition, and the expressive use of color.
